Pinterest-Worthy Announcement Inspo For Proud Parents

If you’re looking to create an announcement as beautiful as your bouncing baby, we’re here to help you deliver.

WEEK10 ANNOUNCEMENT

It’s almost time to let the world in on your secret! And by world, we mean your world, aka your family and friends. But if you want to rent a skywriter or a billboard at Piccadilly Circus, don’t let us stop you. While we love being extra, we’re more equipped to give you some lower-key inspiration for your baby announcement.

But before we delve into the merriment, a little disclaimer: Pregnancy is a hugely exciting time for you and your loved ones. It can also be a difficult time for people struggling with fertility. If you know your announcement might be triggering for someone, consider sending them a private text or email first to let them digest the news and respond at their own pace.

All sent? Great! Without any further ado, let’s get announcing!

Valentines themed announcement

Seasonal themed announcements

Winter, autumn, spring or summer - no matter which season your bundle of joy is being announced in, there’s a cute, seasonal spin for your announcement. The easiest way to create a cute post is to get yourself a letterboard (as seen here) and decorate around it.

You’ve got your classics: Snowflakes for winter. Fallen leaves for autumn. Tulips for spring. Sunshine for summer. Head down to your nearest craft store and release your inner toddler with glitter and glue galore.

If you’re a fan of more specific themes, you can always base your announcement around a seasonal holiday. Find out you’re expecting in February? It’s the season of love, baby! Have a Valentines themed announcement. In October? A Halloweeny, spooky scary announcement is the way to go. In March? Get egg-cited for all the Easter puns. You get the picture.

Pet themed announcements

You might already be paw-rents with a little bundle of fluff in your life. If your dog or cat (or other exotic animal of choice) is about to become a furry(/scaly/befeathered) sibling, then they can help you deliver the news! We’ve highlighted a few of our favourites on our Pinterest - like the jealous older sibling-pup, the Official Toy Tester, or the ‘I’m getting a human’ bandanna.

Pet themed announcement

Sibling announcements

Maybe you’ve already got some actual human children alongside your fluffy children too. They can get involved in announcing the arrival of their future sibling (cue tears in three… two…)

If Baby Shark has been playing on a loop in your house (and in your head,) we love this adorable, aquatic predator announcement. The ever adorable ‘we hope it’s a…’ announcement works a treat. And the eternal question of ‘hold up, what’s a baby?’ is just as cute as they are. (The follow-up question of ‘but how are babies made?’ is less cute.)

Funny announcements

If the uber-aesthetic, Insta-curated post isn’t your style, introduce your baby to the world with a bit of a giggle. Humour is subjective, and we don’t know if you’re more of a Michael McIntyre kind of a household or an Aisling Bea sort of crowd. But, if you ask us, wine-based humour always hits. (Laugh through the pain and put a bottle on ice for the next nine months!) Giving your partner a bump is also a pretty good gag. Whatever feels authentic for you and your sense of humour is sure to land with your friends and family.

Hobby/interest-themed announcements

Everyone has their thing. You could be an arty, fine art person. Or a film buff. Or an avid birdwatcher. Whatever hobby is holding your interest at this current point in time, you can theme your announcement around it!

For all those Star Wars fans out there, try theming your announcement around the cutest character in a galaxy far, far away - the Child!

If the words ‘Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-doooo’ mean anything to you, or if you often think no one told you life was gonna be this way (*clap clap clap clap*), you could create a Friends themed announcement. ‘The One Where They Have a Baby’ has a nice ring to it.

Or, if you love to rack up some air miles, a travel-themed announcement could be right up your street.

However you like to spend your free time, get excited to share it with your mini-me and share the news with your friends!

Donut announcement

Boozy and foody announcements

A real crowd pleaser, the boozy and foody announcements are a treat for your family and friends. Nothing says ‘be excited for me!’ more than bribing people with baked goods. A box of donuts always guarantees smiles - and a cute note from your baby is the cherry on top.

If your family and friends prefer more of a liquid celebration, you can magnanimously give them a bottle of bubbly so they can drink up in your stead. Don’t worry, they’ll save a little bit for you to enjoy in nine months.

Surprise IRL announcements

‘So, how did people announce their pregnancy to their friends and family before social media?’ we hear you ask. Well, back in the Stone Age, they told people in person. If you prefer to keep things old school, there are plenty of exciting ways to announce your pregnancy in person.

For the Etsy lovers out there,  this adorable announcement mug is perfect for any tea-loving relatives. You also can’t go wrong with a classic baby gro announcement. (Hey, they’re classics for a reason!) And, to top it all off,  this personalised frame is the perfect present for sentimental Scrabble fans. There’s so much announcement merch out there - you’re bound to find something that makes your heart sing.

Tea announcement

Candid announcements

If the thought of sourcing a letterboard and heading to Hobbycraft exhausts you, there’s no need for all the faff. Throw this entire email away. You don’t need any fanfare to announce your pregnancy. The miracle of life is exciting enough as it is.

Still want to share your announcement? Snap a casual, candid pic of your positive test or of your ultrasound photo. They get the message across just as effectively as all our other announcement ideas!

Our Pinterest is a treasure trove of pregnancy announcement ideas. Take a look if you’re still struggling for Insta inspo. (We’ve also got loads of other exciting boards for you to have a nose at - not to brag.)
